We were thrilled with the number of votes and are delighted to finally announce the lucky winner of the Second Perio Link Award, Dr. Naveed Sadiq!
Dr. Naveed is a distinguished professional who excelled in both dentistry and public health. He earned an MPH with distinction and a Gold Medal, followed by a Fulbright Scholarship for a PhD in Health Services Policy & Management from the University of South Carolina, USA. After returning to Pakistan, he served as a Health Policy Fellow at the Ministry of National Health Services before joining various academic institutions as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Naveed's expertise lies in Health Reforms, Health Policy analysis, Health Services Administration, and Oral Health. Read more about Dr. Sadiq here!
“The role of dental insurance in mitigating mortality among working-age U.S. adults with periodontitis” was the winning video this year. The assumption Dr Sadiq’s team made – and was later confirmed by the study – is that dental insurance might be instrumental in granting access to dental care and therefore reducing the associated all-cause mortality risk in adults with periodontitis.

2022 Ceremony
During Europerio10, the Sunstar Foundation held an Award Ceremony for the Sunstar World Perio Research Award and the Perio Link™ Award. The event was delayed from its original June 2021 schedule, but winners and selection committee members were finally able to come together in Copenhagen.
